It’s been an awesome stay in Isla Cedros! I met Jerry and Terry on Raven and Jerry's boat cat, Boomer. I also met their friends, Logan and Vicky, on the boat Soñadora. These guys are a ton of fun and, aside from the pangeros, the one lonely elephant seal and a flock of pelicans, we had the entire harbor to ourselves!
The elephant seal is hilarious! I’ve never seen one in the wild until this stop. He’s enormous, and every afternoon he beaches himself and makes these odd sounding chirps up towards the houses on the cliff, like he’s asking for scraps of food or something. It almost sounds like someone banging on a steel drum. I tried to dinghy over to get close and take a video, but apparently he’s shy. Anytime I’d get close, he would take off under water.
Terry made a delicious chicken ramen the other night and was kind enough to share. Both of the other boats took off this morning to head to Bahia Tortugas (Turtle Bay), where I’ll be stopping next.
The weather is looking perfect for a quick 6 hour crossing tomorrow. 15-20 knots from behind me, and pretty flat seas, and should be sunny and warm. I’ve got photos of Cedros to post when I get internet again. Maybe I’ll be able to get a wifi signal in Turtle Bay.
My Spanish is slowly getting better. The 4 years I took in school is starting to come back to me. I always wanted to study abroad in when I was in college and I feel like I’m finally getting that experience. I’d love to be somewhat fluent by the time I leave.
