Departing Turtle Bay Thursday!

Been in Bahia Tortugas for going on a week now. It’s been a great stop and an almost ideal anchorage. Even when the winds kick up the bay stays relatively calm. Met some new cruisers, some going south, others heading north. I stocked up on perishables yesterday and am getting the boat ready to keep going south tomorrow.

I fueled up using Enrique’s fuel panga. They brought 9 gallons out to the anchorage for me. It cost 27 pesos per liter vs 22 at the penmex station. I didn’t need much fuel so I figured it was worth the convenience to not have to lug two 5 gallon jugs a mile and back. Another boat tried to bypass the “Enrique Tax” and his goons swarmed them. They tried to intimidate these cruisers and threatened to call the cops.

I haven’t decided yet if I want to stop in Ascuncion tomorrow, or take advantage of the good sailing window and keep going to Abreojos. I’d like to get as far south as I can as quickly as I can, but not miss some important stops along the way.
